Good to see that Andrew Monk, who was raised and lived in Audlem for many years, was in the national press yesterday.

Andrew, who works for Coca Cola, defended how Olympic sponsors are filling the seats at the Women's Beach Volleyball – in contrast to sponsors' empty seats at other events.

Andrew lived in Cheshire Street with his parents Bob and Jenny and sister Rachel. He now lives in Sussex and was married three years ago.

Andrew, aged 42, said in the Independent: "I'm bringing a customer as part of our contact strategy, because we both wanted to come.

"That's how our businesses talk to each other – Coke as a corporate sponsor has had these tickets for years."

From Audlem Online's perspective, the downside of this local link to the Olympics is having to publish a photograph of the Women's Beach Volleyball.

We had tried to keep in line with the policy of Britain's national newspapers in avoiding Olympics photos of ladies in bikinis.

Audlem Online has always upheld a policy of not publishing photographs that might upset some of our readers and are only including this photo as it was essential to a news story with a genuine local link!
