Since its inception in 2011, Rodney Cottrell has chaired the operating committee and worked tirelessly to develop the initial concept of the Audlem Lass Boat Service into its now well established role in Audlem village life.
At the recent public AGM he agreed to take the role of President and relinquish his day-to-day responsibilities to a new committee. He will still continue to play a prominent role in promoting the Audlem Lass service.
The new committee will meet soon to agree individual responsibilities and points of contact.
Rodney has been the driving force behind the success of Audlem Lass and we are sure that his new venture for disabled persons will equally flourish.
Audlem Lass sailings commence on Good Friday departing Overwater Marina to Lock 15 at 10.30am and every half hour until the last departure at 4.00pm. Sailings from Lock 15 begin at 10.45am and leave every half hour, the last leaving at 4.15pm.
From May to September sailings will begin at 10.00am and finish at the Marina at 5.00pm.
The service will run every weekend and Bank holiday until October.
Rodney Cottrell said: "Christine and I would like to say the past four years as Chair and Treasurer have been very enjoyable and we wish the new committee well.
"The change will give us more time to progress the Overwater Wheelyboat project that will have a special boat to accommodate wheelchairs for trips on the canal by arrangement.
"Also Crewe-Nantwich Lifeboat will on Tuesday become Crewe – Nantwich & South Cheshire Branch. This brings Sandbach, Middlewich & Holmes Chapel on board, another challenge."
