Audlem Lass, the new boat plying the canal, will operate this weekend – Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday – between Audlem and Overwater Marina.
The service enjoyed a sensational start on its first weekend over Easter with a total of 569 trips taken by adults and children over the four days plus, we were told, eight dogs and seven push chairs.
Last weekend's donations to the RNLI, the lifeboat charity, were £466. Rather than a £1 fare per trip, the volunteer coxswains will be collecting donations to the charity again this weekend.
The monies raised by this new Audlem attraction will help pay for a new RNLI lifeboat at New Brighton on the Wirral, which is near to one of Britain's busiest shipping lanes.
The service will run from 9.30am at Overwater Marina and 9.45am at Lock 15 with services from each port of call every half hour until late afternoon. There's a maximum of twelve passengers per trip.
