Ahoy there!!  The Audlem Lass is ship shape and ready to set sail again on the Shropshire Union Canal.

Having had its first successful season in 2011, the Audlem Lass skippers, a group of twelve retired people, who so far have collectively volunteered over 900 hours of their time to manning the boat, decided that to give a better service to the community and project a more professional image, they would need to formalise the organisation.

To do this they needed to form a committee; adopt a constitution and have a recognisable identity and logo.  With this in place, the crew are really proud to announce that the operation is now known as the 'Audlem Lass Boat Service'.

The objective is to provide a reliable, safe and a really friendly service for all to enjoy!

In 2011, the Audlem Lass carried over 4000 passengers and collected over £4,000 in donations.  All profits go to supporting the RNLI and will continue to do so under the new structure.

During the winter months the Audlem Lass has been repainted and is looking very smart.  She has a new engine, and a back-up engine just in case of a problem, plus we have improved the safety aspects of the Overwater pontoon, new safety fencing and hand rails have been installed to improve ease of access.

Obviously, we have many familiar faces and characters crewing the boat from last year and a couple of new volunteers too, who have recently joined, bringing our total crew to twelve.

You will be pleased to hear that our regular scheduled weekend service starts on Good Friday 6th April 2012.  We will run the same 30minute service as last year from Overwater Marina to Audlem lock 15.  The times will be 10 a.m. – 4.45p.m. Click on the link below the photo for the full schedule.

Look out for our new logo, it should start appearing in the village shops and pubs soon!

Remember, ‘The Lass’ is available for private hire, educational school trips and other group outings.  Please contact 01270 811539 or email audlemlass@gmail.com" target="_blank">audlemlass@gmail.com

On behalf of all the Crew, we look forward to welcoming you aboard!
