Sunday 28th

Our preseason tour continues as we gather to meet with Salvador F C, a team from the top league so in a way a mismatch but a time when our players can see such an eleven in full speed of play

The day, to say the least, is awful weather-wise and my thoughts go to the ASET team as the Huge Festival of Transport takes place in horrendous conditions. So. Loaded up and I head off early, avoiding flooding on the roads and drive to the Birtles complex -- home to Wistaston Cricket Club.

Team players arrive bit by bit and atmosphere in the changing room very upbeat. League Referee Jem Cornes is to officiate for the game -- and such dedication as he is paid just £22 top tale on the task. He must love the game!

This however releases out team manager, Kev Mort, to concentrate on the play.

1100 and we kick off.
I must confess I do not sit in my normal position on the sidelines- in such continuous precipitation, I ducked out.So I watch from afar.We performed very well as a together team. This is the most major thing in what next season will be our drive to get higher up the division. Good squad of players on the books

BUT – First half saw us concede 2 goals. Second half same again in spite of our really fired up attempts. Goalkeeper Connor Baxter saved a penalty.

A loss. An injury to our top scorer Kevin Beresford. But Kev Mort learned a lot as he used his experience to try out set ups etc -- getting ready for the start of the season later in August.

Soaked- truly soaked – as all trooped off. Kit a soggy muddy mess and a challenge to me today to have it cleaned up.

Next preseason game is away and versus 'Faddiley F C.
