26th March v Nantwich Pirates

Match of the day seen.
Liverpool face Nottingham Forest this evening in the FA cup tie , and I am hopeful of a pleasant night with fellow football friends .
Just thinking of the Ukraine. A war brought to our front rooms. By mobile phones , instant photos . We look from afar at the horrors of a massive machine such as Russian against a minority . We do what we can with donations of cash, foods, clothing, medical supplies. And the likes of Poland taking in so many refugees , and Germany . Stark contrast to the efforts of our own blighted govetmemt.
Here . Our life .Turn the tap. Heat by the boiler. Switch on the light . Toaster . Kettle . Good roads, (excepting the odd pot hole .) No storms to destroy our houses . No tornados . No really severe floods. No murdering in a mass . A very gentle country is ours in many ways ? What a contrast to those in Ukraine
Enough . Today is the Spring Equinox . When the night and the day are of equal length . From now on each day will be longer that the night . A glorious time for flowers opening their throats to the warming sunshine .

To my match .

The COOP of course ,
The bells of St James . The calm of our village.
We play Nantwich Pirates . With referee Stuart Simms in charge . Very good official .
Beautiful sunny day. Calm too. Pitch looking very good . Well lined out .
Low turn out of players so Mgr Kev Mort gets into his kit .
We play in our red/ black home Kit with NP in orange
Kick off Early at 1055.
Lose the toss so sun is in Connor Baxter's eyes .
Usual 100 mph to start as each side tries to get the measure of each other.
Top league executive David Farral arrives. Most welcome.
11:02 -A corner- the first of the game , and it goes to Nantwich Pirates.
Connor saves what looks like a sure goal.
Good cross by Andrew Betteley , met by Ben Walker , but NP goalie saves well
Play about 50/50 so far.
Corner again to NP followed by another And by golly, they score !
What a start

0-1

11:20 -NP are dominating the play . And really pressing hard on our defence .
11:25 -Free kick to us.no gain .
Yet another corner for NP.We get a corner, but no gain
11:30 -Free kick as Will Cork is bundled down . No gain.
Quite a chill in the air when a cloud crosses the sun . Still amazes me that a wispy bit of water vapour can take away the heat of the sun that has travelled 93 million miles to reach earth . Think about that .
Clash of heads and Thomas Capewell downed for a few minutes.
Play is quite frantic and we are not playing well at all .Discomfabulated for sure . They are slicing us open .
Half time comes
Sub played as Toni Sindstadt comes off and Callum Mese on .
11:49 -Penalty and it goes to us.Up steps Dan Rooney. Calm
But too calm as he ballots his kick high and wide. A big chance missed.
I feel right now that even if we played a few hours more , we will not score today .
12:00 -Free kick to NP .
Then they get a corner. Blow me down. A free header and the same scorer of the first half, scores again with a free header . A player who has never scored before.

0-2

Poor defence all round .
Far too many high balls with no concise play on the deck .
Kev Mort on . K Rodgers off.
Game over. We lacked cohesion and looked ordinary today.

Man of the match awarded to Tom Smart

Then
We have to set to and Give all rooms used in the superb Annexe a good scrubbing as the cleaner has left and new one not yet in place.
Off to the Bridge Inn for chip butties and lagers .
Next game is again at home. We play Winsford Over FC in a cup tie .
