Audlem FC Match Report

Back home and to my seat by the new Annexe, awaiting the sound of the referees whistle as he sets us off against a team we have not faced before, from Winsford . So an unknown quantity before us .

And the recent warmth of our late spring so very welcome . On that subject , I still find it amazing that we can bathe in the warmth of our star, the sun -- when that light and heat has travelled 93,000,000 miles to reach us , and in just 8 minutes. Imagine what was the temperature as the heat and light left the sun! Even more astounding is that we can hold a large leaf over our head or face and stop that heat. Such a flimsy item can shade us.

Kev Mort of our management team, spots a penny on the ground. Picks it up – "and all the day you will have good luck ". _ or so goes the ancient rhyme.
We shall see

Now, though , the bit of warmth -- albeit a shower of rain just before we start a shock -- is so welcome for us here as we kick off sharp at 1100 .

#Kick off

Referee is Joel Buckle. Playing field is in good order. Church bells are silent as we begin our attack. Car park strangely quite empty . Manager Kev Rodgers has a good squad of players . We played a match on Wednesday as we seek to catch up on games cancelled in the poor weather, and
put on a good show, being beaten just 2-3 . A good game and we were close to a result as all played so well.
Ross Henderson is skipper today. His broken hand now well healed, thankfully.

Good play as each team fires themselves up. 1st corner to Winsford .

Sun comes out quite a bit and it gets warmer. Pitch standing up well. And grass growing . Good to see it in such good condition -- a product of all the
good work of 2017.
Matty Gladders has to come ff after a very heavy stamp on his foot. On comes Brad Tucker
The language of our opponents is quite bad. Very noticeable.

SECOND HALF

Joe Benson comes on for Adam Myers. Then. Referee awards a penalty against us.
0-2 as they convert it – A blow!

Referee books Kev Rodgers -- his first this season -- for a push on their
goalie . Yellow card. Cost to KR £15.

But that is how we finish.

Nice to see the new fresh green leaves on the perimeter trees. So welcoming to the the best season of the year .

Next game is away at Winsford as it so happens . Then just three more games to salvage our pride .
