MATCH REPORT 14th Jan 2018

This morning seemed to begin far too early.

I use the word seemed when in fact it did indeed begin at an ungodly hour as my troublesome tooth once again gave me need to rise and seek solace in some paracetamol.

But to life. The early morning lighting of the roads hereabouts now bathed in such a cold diamond white light that has little appeal to me. And add to that the ultra-bright headlights of new cars are such to my mind a really dangerous thing, blinding on-coming traffic – especially the masses of 4 x 4 's that people in Cheshire use in such numbers. I do hope that there will be a challenge to the use of such piercing light – or I feel there will be more bumps because of this development.

To the Centre of Audlem for 0930. Car loaded up and park near to the Annexe. Car park awash with cars as a private function in the main hall is set up. Such vibrancy and on a very chill Sunday early morning. To the steps up to the Gym and Football entrance, and there noting the abuse by youngsters of these steps and area. What is it about such who delight in making a mess. So little regard for property set up to be a major jewel of the crown that is Audlem. Sad in many ways.

Kit all laid out and ready.

We play Nantwich Young Farmers of Wrenbury today. Top of the league team. A case of a Man City versus Crewe!! Referee Kev Kelly here and all OK for Kick-off. Very impressed with his own officials room on this his first visit to the new Annexe. Cold chill day as the bells of St James fall silent.

Kick-Off 1100

Off we go and each side striving for chances (New corner flags fluttering in the cold breeze. Pitch well drained. Very bad muddy area by the patio area of the Annexe in dire need of resolution as more and more muck is waked into the steps. A true design fault but hopefully the Parish Council whose land it is, will rectify this with all speed.)

1115

Danny Mahoney, playing fast and determined, sends in a great shot but no goal. So close for us to open up the scoring. 1120 Free kick, the 1st- goes to NYF and thank fully no gain. We are often undone by set pieces.

1130

It is about 50/50 in the play which is very commendable fir us. Ball passed to Mo Haroon and super move to Bebo. He shoots but goalie saves.

1135

Marcus Bell shoots, hits their number two and we have a goal. An own goal! to us!!

1140

Connor Baxter, in goal for us, pulls off a great stop. Saves a certain goal

1144

Corner to us and Mark Parker meets it and scores to us!!!

1146

A right mess up and we let in an oh so very, very soft goal. 2-1. A shame after all the effort of beating the top team so far.

SECOND HALF 1155

They score 2-2 Temperature dropping as a rare & chill air pervades our seated area. Mark Parker comes off and Joe Benson on.

1210

2-3. If only we had not had half time!!!Kev Mort on and Danny Mahoney off.

1230

2-4 disaster!!!

1238

2-5.

As is so often quoted in football managers speak -- a game of two halves. And by golly, that was so true.Truly awful in the second half after a great play in the first half.. The atmosphere in the changing room was very blue as KR tore into the team after the final whistle. The day closed as far as AFC was concerned. Downcast. Brought down to earth. And my darned tooth pain still around. The thought of my once more being in "I Pullem's" chair on the 17th giving me heart. Hopefully that will then be the last of my complaining.

Next game is also HUGE. The Semi Final of The Presidents cup when we face Barrel and Tap here at Audlem. With all the bells and whistles of a full referee and linesmen provided by the FA of Cheshire.

Cross your fingers for us as we play in our very first Semi Final match. All support will be very welcome. Kick off at 1100.
