Football report from sunny Spain. Made in absentia as my team face a match versus Cricketers FC. Playing at Sandbach. More of the game later.

Just here now and thinking of all the blossom that I left behind me. The photo is the magnificent Camelia that was in bloom along with many trees with magnolia blooms. Garden awash with many spring flowers and in a way I regretted coming out here whilst it was such a lovely spring.

But, the joy of being here in Spain makes up for it as the beauty of an orange on my tree is here to greet me. In addition the song of the Nightingale is so magical as it cares for its mate. They have been nesting nesting here for many many years and I am so pleased that they are still here. The golf course looks very inviting with immaculate manicured greens.

To the football

We met at Sandbach FC ground . A good turn out of 13 players.
A hope that we can play a game in which some pride is restored after the thrashing of recent games.
Not being there to give you blow by blow account, I must revert to the result.

We lost 4-2 . So not a hammering . Andrew (Beco) Betteley scored both goals. He is our top goal scorer.
Young Tom Bebbington was yellow carded . He can be very aggressive at times and has a very young head on his shoulders.

In the words of Geoff Stretch, it was a game we could – and should – have won.
Cricketers, our opponents, laid on food for us after the game. Nice gesture by them. I truly see most matches played in a very sportsmanlike manner, just the odd very belligerent team. But that is what makes for the contrast, highs and lows.
