I write this as I have arrived back in the U.K. after a very good time in sunny Spain with a great lot of warm days . Dining well in many different places with good company lots of work done and good satisfaction , albeit costing a good few euro.

Few days with my granddaughter Honesty and her friend Arielle and I was delighted to treat them . In fact instead of the boring photo of the players I attach a shot taken in a very fine Restaurant named Mas Pou in a tiny very ancient village named Palau Sator . As you see the girls are lovely and are very warm and loving.

My journey home was a bit of a saga in that a strike by cabin crews and some pilots meant my Friday flight with Ryanair – £60 – was cancelled. My car in Harpenden with my son, Jonathan so I needed to get back to Luton. Single ticket on easyJet one way was £140 – plus taxi to railway station at £30 and £16 on the train. Big cost but I got back Saturday night. Stayed over and then drove north at 0530 .

But to the Football.

This game is one in the Presidents Cup of The Crewe Sunday League and we face Wistaston White Star, a team from the premier league and are a force to be reckoned with.

Taking place behind the Lamb pub in Wistaston . We play in our yellow away kit and they in their blue strip.

Changing rooms very basic and no showers. Good turn out of players so we have a full squad plus 5 subs . Rule for this fixture in roll on roll off subs so all will have the chance to play.

Kick off a tad late at 1103.

1104
And we are behind to a silly soft goal . We were asleep !! What a way to begin a match against strong opposition .
0-1 Feeling cold and cheerless after that start. I was in 28c sun on Saturday and here I am . Cold , miserable after that terrible start.

1108
Connor Baxter in goal pulls off a fine save .Phew

Big pitch not in the best of conditions . Another chance falls to us but no goal. We are battling hard with play 50/50 Shaping well after that silly goa.

But then -

1123.
Corner to them. Nd a goal. Own goal!!
0-2

Rest thundering shot by Trev McDowell – saved

1129
They score
0-3

Trev comes after after a wicked tackle crocks him. On comes Will Cork. Day getting gloomier and chill breeze. Have my gloves on and my big black hat .
Free kick to them just outside our area but Connor saves well.

Half time

Team talk is that they are not three nil better than us and let's get at them

More subbing .

1214
We get a free kick over to the far side. Kev Rodgers takes it -- and scores a truly beautiful goal . Straight into the top corner
1-3

Dan Rooney on for Ross Henderson who again has been so fast in his game .
On come Kev Mort into attack. Replaces Mark Parker.

1235
Tomas Capewell in the right place and scores
2-3!

Free kick to us as we attack and attack. Off Kev Mort's head and passes to Andrew Betteley d he puts it away for a goal
3-3

We are level!! Such great heart in the players.

1255
Wistaston really rattled now as we boss the game.
Then. Up steps Kev Mort and scores very well. He is a tower of strength for us even though long in the tooth.
4-3

What a turn around.

Blow me down , they score just before final whistle.
4-4

An epic match.

Extra time to play as it a cup match. 15 minutes each way.

No change

So penalties

And suffice to say we lost 5- 4 .

But our heads held high after taking a top team to the wire.

Next game is home to Winsford F C.

Do come along and give us a cheer.
