Audlem FC beaten by top team

We played our second ever full league match this morning against Scholars Green FC, a team who are currently top of the league. Their result last week against a team from Malpas was a 19 – 0 win for them.

Audlem FC played well and held them to a 4 – 0 score in their favour in the first half. Then, in the second, they scored 5 more to our 2 including a good goal by Danny Jones. 

So last week we lost 8 – 1. This week 9 – 2. 

Scholars Green are a team that have been in existence for over 40 years, the present players having been together as a team for the past 4 years. 
We play them again in Kidsgrove next Sunday. So having learned a little, we should, on paper, do better. 

A good crowd of residents came to cheer us on in the warmth of a lovely day. Our match ball was very kindly sponsored by Martyn Measures and this money went a long way in meeting the referees fee.
