Well -- here we go again!.

A new season looming in August, and we have embarked on a series of friendlies, as do the Premiership teams. We gather at our splendid Annexe building- the envy of all other teams is the Crewe 'Sunday League as we have by far the best changing rooms and showers of all. Goal posts have all been refurbished by our own Kev Mort and look good as we erect them. Pitch -- well a vista of what one would expect in deepest Africa with a burnt surface -- and a very hard one. Lines quite indistinct.

We have a good number of new signings as Kev Rodgers seeks to strengthen the team and today we have a good turn out of 15 players. Brand new kit on show, all thanks to our three sponsors, viz The Lord Combermere, The Fine Foodies Deli and Barn India of Woore. I will have a photo of the new team in our new kit for publishing soon. We also have a new away kit -- paid for, but now we have to raise just under £500 to cover that cost. Events planned in September, more of which later.

Today we play White Horse of Nantwich, a team that finished above us last season.

10.45.Kick-off

Referee is here and we kick off early. With the fine weather, we have a good sprinkling of spectators on the side lines. Fast a furious as all the pent up energy of lazy weeks fires all players up. One of our top scorers, Andrew 'Beko' Betterley, is in goal as Connor Baxter, our regular keeper is away. Ball bouncing far too much of the iron hard surface.. Lots of throw-ins as a result. We are being hard pressed by White Horse and

11.15 0-1

They score from a scrambled position. Game to and fro with WH on top this half. Our Manager begins playing our subs as we strive to get on top.

Half-time

Lots of water taken on board as a bunch of very hot players troop off.

And we come out with fresh determination and fresh players as more subs on the pitch

11.40 1-1

We score with top scorer Mark Parker once more on target. This half we are bossing the play with renewed energy.

12.10 2-1

And a fine goal by Charlie Rose -- a new signing who looks very effective in his play.

12.15 3-1

Still on top as ball comes to the feet of Connor McGowan and he fires in a beautiful goal from all of 30 yards. Super goal and well deserved as he has run the opposition ragged at times.

12.20 3-2

-- and sadly we let them score. So at 3-2 game over.

A win for us following the 5-2 victory in our first of a series of matches. Man of the Match (as chosen by the opposition) is Charlie Rose.

Next game is away to Sandbach '. Let us hope we keep up this momentum.

Our photo belatedly shows our top player of last season -- Ross Henderson -- receiving his trophies. He was away in the USA on the night we presented them.
