Despite losing the toss, Audlem skipper Chris Shenton opened the batting with Andy Capper (20 runs). They decided to go on the attack from the off, launching into the Knutsford attack in the search of quick runs. Shenton managed 59 before being caught by Morefitt at point. Andy Capper also soon fell after a an excellent bit of fielding by Cook.

With the score now at 100 for 2, new batsmen Thomas Measures and Gareth Pritchard soon take control of the game despite a slow start. Both batsmen piled on the runs as Audlem declared quite early after 38 overs with a total of 221. Measures finished on 66 and Pritchard on 51.

In reply, Knutsford lost opener Phil Gough early on with only 4 runs on the board. Rich Brown clean bowled him only 2 balls after he was dropped at point. Knutsford then dug in and Audlem found it very tricky to take the next wicket.

Chris Shenton brought himself on get the breakthrough and the plan paid dividends in his second over when he had Hudson caught behind. Lyndon Woodcock and Rich Brown started to turn the screw, wickets fell regularly, and Knutsford were bowled out for 107. Brown took 5 wickets and Woodcock 4.

This win puts Audlem 26 points ahead of second place Mossley and gives Audlem some breathing space as they head into a tricky month of fixtures starting at Eastham, away, next Saturday.
