It's good to see that Chris Lewis, a.k.a Sam, is back in Audlem for a visit from his new home in Spain. Chris used to run the garage at Chapel End before moving to southern Spain. He was one of Audlem's leading cricketers for many years and says he's now involved in the game in Spain.

Indeed, his local club is creating a new pitch which will be available in June this year. Until now, they have been travelling some distance to play their home games as cricket pitches in Spain are thin on the ground. His team has already played clubs such as Madrid and Barcelona but Chris admits they did suffer defeat at the hands of the touring Dutch Ladies National cricket team, despite his own decent innings.

That may be one reason his team now has the support of a certain Ian Botham, who lives for part of the year nearby. Botham, the national hero of the 1981 Ashes victory over Australia, possibly an even more exciting series than 2005's, isn't playing for the club as his sporting energies are now concentrated on golf, but he does give advice and is interested in the club's progress.

Chris adds that there is great enthusiasm amongst the Spanish for the game.
