Alsager v Audlem ( Saturday May 10 )

Alsager secured a comfortable victory on Saturday to get their season up and running and in the process ended Audlem's 100 % record in the league this season.
Half centuries from Hassan Haleem and Paul Pickford set the tone for Alsager to race to 266 for 6 from their 40 overs. Haleem hit 11 fours and one 6 in his 77 whilst Pickford's 76 contained 10 boundaries and one maximum.
Simon Swift took the bowling honors with 3 for 64. Dave Blatherwick replied with 22 but Audlem's hopes of extending their fine start were all-but over when they slumped to 94 for 8. Jake Topping ( 43 ), Abhijith Jayan ( 40 ) & Simon Swift ( 12 not out ) broke the shackles and added a further 89 runs for the visitors to finish with a respectable 183 all out in the 38th over. Audlem gained 10 points for their efforts on the day and next week welcome the visit of high flying Burslem to The Gorse Croft.
