After many seasons playing our Saturday cricket in the Cheshire Leagues it has been decided at the recent AGM that a change of direction was needed to encourage potential new local players from our ever expanding village to come and try their hand at our summer sport.
We have now joined the North Staffs and South Cheshire Cricket League and start life at the bottom of the pyramid in Division 8 but welcome the prospect of much more local cricket with a number of interesting local derbies on offer.
Last season we had a full fixture list of Sunday friendlies against clubs from far and near which proved to be a great success with the main aim of ensuring everyone was given the opportunity to participate in the games no matter what their age or ability. All the games were played in the correct spirit against like-minded teams and on many Sundays found ourselves over subscribed with players keen to take part.
This season's fixtures are almost complete and will be published as soon as possible.
We are in the process of upgrading our old tired wooden pavilion over the winter months with a few necessary repairs and modifications to the interior and external structure with our small band of willing volunteers. If anyone thinks they have anything that might be of use to us please get in touch with one of our officials who will be glad to hear from you. Any old photos of the ground or past players/ officials or teams would be most welcome.
We are also looking for local businesses or individuals to help with the running costs of our club by sponsoring a game or match ball for a fee of £20:00. In return we would advertise the sponsor's name on our notice boards for all the home and visiting players and officials to see for the duration of the game and we would plug your business on our Facebook. Twitter and Instagram pages. If you are able to help your local cricket club in any way it would be much appreciated
We are planning a series of pre-season indoor nets in the near future so if anyone out there wants to give it a go please get in touch with us on audlem.play-cricket,com, or contact John Wainwright on 07809202805 or e-mail g981ank@gmail.com
