Leycett .v. Audlem Saturday September 14

Audlem wound up the season with a rare defeat at the hands of promotion hopefuls, Leycett.

Leycett were offered first use of the wicket at the Park Terrace ground and made good use of the invitation after the loss of two early wickets with a 138 third wicket partnership between M. Bryan ( 59 ) & I. McDonnald ( 80 ). No other batsman contributed greatly to the eventual of 206 for 8 with all the bowlers maintaining their discipline . Simon Swift ( 3 for 48 ), Conor Howard ( 2 for 29 ), Abijith Jayan ( 1for 21 & Vijan Rahul ( 1 for 37 ) were the wicket takers.

Audlem had their work cut out against Leycett s decent bowling attack but Jack Allman ( 39 ) & Irfan Shaik ( 45 ) gave it a good go but with no other batsman able to offer meaningful support the visitors fell well short and were all out for 125 in the 30th over. Leycett s success was rather muted as they discovered that Stafford, who were their rivals for the remaining promotion spot had also won thus ensuring they were promoted alongside Audlem.

Sunday s game against Wistaston was postponed due to the weather and will now be played this Sunday which will bring the curtain down on the season. The game starts at 12.30pm
