The new season gets under way today with the League team playing at home against Old Parkonians from The Wirral in Division 3 of the Cheshire League after last season's promotion. With new challenges from the likes of Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge and Chester County Officers and the more familiar and local opponents from Cholmondeley, Aston, Bunbury and Holmes Chapel the club are looking forward to consolidating their position in a higher division.

Last season's squad has remained more or less intact but will have to do without influential skipper Chris Shenton who has had long awaited surgery on a troublesome knee joint which will put him out of action for some time and with the retirement of premier spin bowler Neil Humphries a vacancy in that department has arisen.

It was decided at the Club's AGM not to enter a team in the Stone & District Sunday League this year after two very successfull seasons where the team finished 1st and 2nd in their divisions. The club wants to revert to friendly cricket on Sundays where players can be given the opportunity to play in a more relaxed environment without the pressure of playing for points and league positions and where everyone can get involved in the game regardless of their abillity, age or fitness levels.

A comprehensive fixture list has already been drawn up with the first game on 12 May at home to Burton CC ( Chester) with regular games throughout the season until the beginning of September.

The squad consists of players with age ranges from 13 to 70+ and is keen to involve itself more with the village than of late and to offer any prospective players the opportunity of social cricket on Sundays.

To all the newcomers in the village ( and surrounding areas ) we are situated about a mile from the village center just off the Woore Road and we would be delighted to see or hear from you.
