Ground and Pitch Improvements

With the Spring fast approaching preparations are underway to bring the cricket ground back to life in time for the oncoming season. Throughout Autumn and Winter work has been taking place at The Gorse Croft to improve and enhance the playing surface and club-house.

The vast majority of the work has been carried out by a small band of volunteers who have amongst other tasks levelled a problem area of the outfield prone to flooding , formed an improved entrance to the ground, constructed a ladies changing room with shower facilities and modernised the gents and ladies toilets. The projects are now almost complete with the onus now on preparing the square and outfield once the rains relent

The Club would like to express their sincere thanks for all the help and donations of materials and equipment but a special debt of gratitude is owed to former player, Lennie Meredith whose expertise and hard work has been the driving force behind all the renovations.

The New Season

The club will again be competing in the North Staffs and South Cheshire Cricket League and will be looking to improve on last season's third place and gain promotion. The Sunday X1 have a full set of games with the bulk of them at home. All the fixtures will be displayed on the club's play-cricket website.

Nets at Burslem

Indoor nets are taking place at The Cricket Cave in Burslem on Tuesday evenings throughout March prior to outdoor practice starting at the ground in April.

With nearly all the away games played within half an hours travelling distance and a 1:00pm start time with 40 overs per team the old days of finishing a match after 8:30pm and having to make your way home from the other side of Stockport or Birkenhead are gone.

Teas will be provided for the Sunday teams now the Covid restrictions have been lifted and we would love to welcome spectators to all our games again.

New Players

The club is always on the look out for new players (young and old) to come and join us and we are again looking for ball sponsors for our home games on both Saturday and Sundays.
