Another super turnout of W.I. Members for our July Meeting, held on a sunny Friday afternoon, not a mention of football!

Our President, Jenny Bourne, welcomed everyone and also welcomed a new member to our W.I.  After our singing of Jerusalem, Jenny briefly and succinctly read the Correspondence and any Matters arising.  She informed us that all information regarding events would be put on the Noticeboard above the Sales table.  We were also informed of the success of the Bowls Team and also how our W.I. just missed 3rd place by half a point for our entry in the Cheshire Show!

We were then all whisked around the World by our Speaker, W.I. Member, Rosalind Mason, who engrossed us with her slides and stories of her World Cruise.

Rosalind did not go around the world in 80 days, but 110 nights and days!  Her fabulous journey began when she boarded the Cunard Liner Queen Anne in January 2026 and would last until April 2026.

The Ladies of the W.I. were entertained by her recalling details of the many places in the world she had seen and that many of us can only dream of visiting. an A – Z of countries – though perhaps not a Z.  A real glimpse of many nationalities and their lifestyles – absolutely fascinating.

Rosalind was one of over 2,000 passengers lucky enough to be on the voyage of a lifetime.  An intriguing little insight came when we were shown a slide of beautiful Faberge Eggs, which apparently were on sale!  She told us that our Royal Family have the biggest collection of Faberge items – over 600 pieces!  Rosalind decided against buying Faberge items – too careful with the dusting!  She did treat herself to Champagne and Caviar though!  After 110 days and nights, Rosalind could definitely say that, to quote Hilda Ogden of Coronation Street `The World Had Been Her Lobster`!!!!

A very enlightened audience gave her a well-deserved round of applause, and she was sincerely by fellow member, Denise Fisher.

As tea and cakes were served, Kay Epton regaled us with an amusing story she had found in one of her travel books.

5 ladies were lucky enough to win prizes in our Monthly Raffle and our Competition `A Holiday Souvenir` was won by Jacquie Leigh for her entry of a Japanese fan.  Thank you to all who supported our Raffle and Competition.
