The May meeting of Aston and district WI took place in St Andrews chapel, Aston at 7:15 on Friday 5th May, the perfect time to enjoy company whilst celebrating the kings coronation together.

Our president Glenys Inight opened the meeting, we then went on to vote on the WI resolution "clean rivers for people and wildlife".

As it was a coronation celebration our entertainers were the musical duo Jon and Pam Baddeley. We had an evening listening to music from the 50s and 60s.We started with a a clarinet trad jazz medley including,oh went the saints,Micheal rode the boat ashore and down by the riverside played by Jon,had songs sung by Pam such as Doris Days popular ke sera sera and a world of our own by the seekers and heard Jon play his banjo ukulele to my old man's a dustman, when I'm cleaning windows to name just a few.

We finished the musical section with a rendition of leaning on a lamp post a George Formby classic played on one of George's own Ukuleles

Dorothy Relton gave a lovely vote of thanks before we enjoyed a tapas type supper and raised a glass to toast King Charles III led by Mr Jon Baddeley.

The competition a vinyl record was won by Dulce Lewis

The next meeting will be held on June 2nd at 7:15 at Aston, where we look forward to a talk by Mrs N Patterson on Air Traffic Control.
