Aston & District W.I August 2018 Report

Our President Jenny Bourne welcomed members and guests to our August Social Evening.

Firstly, our President thanked all members who contributed to and helped with our three entries for the Nantwich Show. She congratulated them all for gaining a 1st, which also won 'Best in Show' in the Co-operative Section and a 3rd.

This evening our business was kept to a minimum so that we could all enjoy a Game of Skittles. All our classes were continuing as usual throughout August.

The Luncheon Club will be meeting at the Bickerton Poacher on 7th August – 12.00 noon for 12.30 pm.

Our walkers are meeting at 'The Castle' in Ludlow on 22nd August at 11.30 am.

This month we had a very friendly and enjoyable evening playing skittles. Four teams played against each other and the Blue team won by just one point. Our overall winner was Mrs Irene Williamson. We followed this with a supper of fish and chips then a welcome cup of tea and piece of cake.

Our competition this month was the President's Choice which was "How many 2p coins in your purse". This was won by Mrs Rose Lomas, whose purse contained fourteen!

Our fundraising Fashion Show by EWM of Nantwich will be held on 12th September at St. Andrews Methodist Chapel, Aston, followed by refreshments and a raffle. All are very welcome.

Next month our meeting is on 7th September at 2pm in the afternoon when our speaker will be Rev. Canon Michael Burgess " The Seven Deadly Sins" Do come and join us.

New members and Visitors are always welcome.
