Aston & District W.I. September 2022 Report

The September meeting of Aston and District W.I. took place at 2pm at Broomhall CommunityCentre on Friday 2nd of September.

Our President, Rose Lomas, announced that the order of the meeting had changed to enable our speaker, Judy Townsend, to start cooking delicious Chinese food. Three chicken dishes were quickly cooked by Judy, who not only explained all about her ingredients but stressed the importance for good preparation. All the time she was cooking she related light hearted stories about dinner parties she had prepared and people she had met. All members enjoyed sampling a sweet and sour, fried rice and curry using chicken as the main protein for all the dishes.

Judy even found time to cook banana and pineapple fritters for dessert and all in all it was a very enjoyable and entertaining talk and demonstration.

Sue Thomas gave the vote of thanks, which was then followed by the president reminding members about our Institute Centenary Celebration and also the trips to the Lowry in January and Christmas at White Friars.

The meeting was concluded with tea and cake. Victoria Jones won the competition with three beautiful scones and 5 lucky raffle winners went home with super prizes.

This month the Luncheon Club will meet at The Swan at Wybunbury on Tuesday 6th September at 12.00 noon.

Our Walking Group will meet on Wednesday 7th September in the car park at the Doctors in Wrenbury.

Our next meeting will take place on Friday 7th October at 2pm at Broomhall, when Thomas Jones will give a talk entitled "It's a Guides Life".

Visitors and new members are always very welcome. For further information please take a look at our web site: – www.astonanddistrictwi.org.uk
