Aston & District W.I. July 2023 Report

This month, our meeting took place on a warm summer’s evening at St. Andrews Chapel, Aston on7th July.

Our President, Glenys Inight, opened the meeting with notices and information on our forthcomingactivities: -

  • The Luncheon Club are to meet at The Globe in Nantwich on 11th July at 12.00 noon.
  • Our Walkers are meeting at The Swan in Marbury at 10.30 am on 12th July.

Our speaker for the evening was Mrs Yvonne Matthews with a talk entitled “Seven Secrets toHealth from the Beehive.” She should have said eight benefits, as in true Liverpudlian style, shedelivered an extremely interesting, informative and simply funny talk which resulted in lots oflaughter – definitely one benefit that could not be put in a bottle!

Yvonne had always worked in complimentary medicine and stumbled across bee keeping just bychance and found she loved it. She took herself off to a bee keeping course and never lookedback. She uses all the products from her hives i.e., honey, wax and propolis and all were on saleat the end of her talk. We all gained an enormous amount of knowledge and pleasure from ourspecial guest this month.

Our President asked us all to keep supporting the raffle and the sales table.

Members then all enjoyed their tea and cakes, while the raffle was drawn.

The competition which was anything relating to a bee was won by Mrs Irene Williamson.

Next month at St. Andrews Chapel in Aston at 7.15 pm when the speaker will be Mrs A. Long whowill talk about “Boarding School Knickers”

Visitors and new members are always very welcome. For further information please take a look atour web site: – www.astonanddistrictwi.org.uk
