Aston & District W.I. May 2022 Report

On Friday, 6th May, our President Rosemary Lomas welcomed all members and guests to our evening meeting on 6th May at Aston Chapel.

Maggie Vine had created a beautiful flower arrangement for the president's table made up of white and peach flowers.

An outing to the Dorothy Clive Gardens has been arranged for Monday afternoon on 27th June at 2.00pm for members.

Ann Pye reported back from the Resolutions Meeting and gave information on the resolution "Women with ASD and ADHD". Our members voted in favour of the resolution.

Our Art class last month was a success, all the members enjoyed it and everyone completed a lovely painting entitled 'Spring'.

This month our Luncheon Club will be meeting at the Lord Combermere at Audlem at 12.00 noon on Tuesday, 10th May.

Our speaker for the evening was Hazel Griffiths who gave a fascinating talk, entitled 'Grace Kelly'. She began with her early life growing up in Philadelphia in a well-known catholic family of Irish and German origin. She became a model and an actress working with many famous leading men, eventually marrying Prince Rainier and having a family. Sadly, she died in a car accident in 1982 at the age of 52.

The vote of thanks was given by Sue Thomas.

The competition "Show us your Diamonds" was won by Victoria Shutt.

We all then enjoyed our tea and cakes and supported the raffle and the Bring and Buy.

Our next meeting is on 10th June at 2.00 pm at Broomhall Chapel for Afternoon Tea to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee.

Visitors and new members are always very welcome and for further information please take a look at our web site: – www.astonanddistrictwi.org.uk
