Aston & District W.I December 2018 Report

On Friday 7th December, our President Jennifer Bourne welcomed members and guests to our Christmas Party Lunch held at Sound and Broomhall Chapel. The meeting opened with us all singing Jerusalem and continued with the business which, given the occasion, was kept to a minimum.

Firstly on Remembrance Sunday, our President laid a Wreath at Aston on behalf of members.

Members were asked to vote on the Resolutions for the AGM in June 2019 before the end of January.
The Luncheon Club will be going to 'The Bhurtpore Inn', Aston on Tuesday December 11th – 12.00 noon for 12.30pm.
The Walking Group are getting together at Nantwich Marina, Basin End on Wednesday December 12th at 10.30am.
Our President presented the 2018 Competition Cup to Mrs. Irene Williamson.
All classes are now on hold until the New Year.

At the conclusion of the formal business, we all enjoyed a delicious hot meal followed by some very tempting deserts. This was followed by a Christmas Quiz and of course, Carols.
Our Christmas Hat Party Competition was won by Mrs. Glenys Inight.

Finally and after all this excitement, the party continued with mince pies, a cup of tea and the raffle with the National Anthem bringing the afternoon to a conclusion.

What a wonderful start to the festive season, enjoyed by everyone.
Our next meeting is on 1st February 2019 at 2.00pm at St. Andrews Chapel in Aston when the speaker will be Barbara Andrews "My Grandmother was a Suffragette" Members are asked to bring a photo of a Grandmother and wear something purple and green if possible.

New Members and Visitors are always welcome.
