Aston & District W.I. April 2022 Report

On Friday, 1st April, our President, Rosemary Lomas, welcomed members to our first evening meeting of the year at Aston Chapel and reported that at the Annual Council Meeting she was given a plaque to commemorate the occasion of our centenary anniversary later in the year.

The following notices were read out:

1)The Luncheon Club will be meeting at The Combermere Arms in Burleydam on Tuesday the 5th April at 12noon.

2)An all-day Art class has been arranged for Wednesday 6th. April which will be held at Broomhall Community Hall at 9.30 am.

3)Volunteers were asked to form a team for the quiz which is to take place on Monday 19th September at the Goodwill Hall in Faddiley.

4)There is to be a walk on May 4th and members will be contacted with instructions beforehand.

After the business, our President introduced our speaker for the evening, Janet Wright, who gave us a very interesting demonstration on Spring Flower Arrangements. She kept us all entertained while she made five stunning flower arrangements to the delight of members and raffled them all off at the end of the evening.

The vote of thanks was given by Kay Epton.

The winner of the competition of a flower was won by Mary Hignett.

Tea and cake and the raffle ended the evening with smiles.

Our next meeting will take place on May 6th at Aston Chapel in the evening at 7.15pm. The speaker will be Hazel Griffiths with her talk on 'Grace Kelly'.

The evening's competition will be 'Show us your Diamonds!'
