Aston & District W.I. December 2021 Report

On Friday 6th December our President, Rose Lomas, welcomed members to our Christmas Lunch at Sound and Broomhall Community Centre. We opened the meeting with Jerusalem and business was kept to a minimum.

On Remembrance Sunday, 14th November, our President represented the WI at the Lichgate Service in Aston and laid the wreath.

This month’s walk is on Thursday 9th December, starting at 10.30am from Nantwich Lake Car Park.

Our Luncheon Club is on 7th December at 12:00 noon in the Lord Combermere in Audlem.

A Flower Class has been arranged for 14th December at Sound and Broomhall Community Centre for members to make a Christmas wreath.

The business of the day over, members then enjoyed a cold lunch followed by some delicious sweets, mince pies and a cup of tea. This was followed by everyone singing Christmas Carols. Ros High then thanked the committee for a very enjoyable lunch. The Christmas Raffle was well supported and a collection was made for the Salvation Army.

The competition for a Christmas napkin was won by Joan Sweeney.

Our President then closed the meeting and wished all the members a Happy Christmas.

She reminded everyone that the next meeting will be on 14th January 2022 at Sound and Broomhall, beginning at 2pm. The speaker will be Mr. Keith Evemy presenting his talk on Florence Nightingale.

The competition will be a Candle Holder.
