Aston & District W.I. February 2018 Report

Our President Jenny Bourne welcomed everyone to the first meeting of 2018 and said it was nice to see some new faces at the meeting and especially little baby Edward attending with his Mum! Mrs Bourne ended by hoping that we'd all enjoyed the Christmas Party and announced that £115 had been collected for St. Luke's.

Most of the Classes, the Walking Group and the Luncheon Club are meeting as usual this month.

Our Speaker today was Mr Edward Bridge who gave us a talk entitled "A Lighter Side of Accountancy". He gave a very amusing talk about his career as a Chartered Accountant after service in the Army. He spoke about the famous people he had met and the many different situations he had been involved in over the years with Tax Inspectors, celebrities, etc., as well as his many varied businesses ventures from time to time. It all made for a very entertaining and interesting talk.

Mrs Christine Grove gave the vote of thanks.

For our competition this month, members were invited to bring along an old coin and the entry by Mrs. Irene Williamson was declared the winner.

Next month's meeting is on Friday March 2nd at 7.15 in the evening. Our speaker will be Mrs. Linda Banks who will be doing a Flower Demonstration.

New Members and Visitors are always welcome. Details can be found on our website at www.astonanddistrictwi.org.uk
