We were welcomed to the meeting by Glenys Inight our president.
Members were encouraged to come forward to join a sub group looking at entering the Nantwich show and then feedback was given of the NFWI annual meeting.
Diane Joslyn had travelled to the Albert Hall in person, sadly her journey was disrupted due to train cancellations however other members had met at our secretary Ann Pyes house for a virtual event which was really successful. All speakers had been enjoyed but Nazir Afzal OBE was particularly inspirational.
Sadly our planned speaker for the evening didn't appear but all was not lost as our new member Denise Fisher announced that she used to be a storyteller and had worked at both Quarry Bank Mill and Stretton Watermill. With no prior warning, Denise told us 3 short stories, firstly about a Roman soldier returning to Rome from Britain with a vine, secondly a story from the Shetland islands based on the Selkie and lastly a Russian folklore Cinderella story. All really captivating. Thank you Denise for an unexpected but really entertaining evening.
The June walking group is having a month off due to holidays but the luncheon group are meeting at the Farmers Arms on Friday 14th June 12 for 12:30pm.
Next month we look forward to a talk from Andrew Keven titled "Staying safe online" July 5th 7:15
New members and guests are all very welcome.
