What a splendid afternoon we have just enjoyed. We forwent a speaker and the Committee provided a lovely Afternoon Tea for all our members. We were warmly welcomed by Our President, Jenny Bourne who was delighted to see so many people turnout for a lovely afternoon of catching up with friends whilst enjoying an afternoon tea, that couldn`t have been nicer if it had been held at the Ritz!
The room looked lovely, with laid tables and flowers a plenty!
As usual, the meeting started with our rendition of Jerusalem, then Jenny read out the notices of events and occurrences. We were also updated on past events and activities see list below. An Information board has now been provided with all the notices for people to take note of if they are interested in any of the events.
Then we got down to the business of eating! The hard-working Committee provided an abundant assortment of sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones with cream and jam and a delicious selection of cakes especially Sue Sullivan`s meringues!!! Every Committee member had contributed to this event and Jenny thanked us all.
Entertainment was provided by Kay Epton who read out her witty poems a short competition involved W.I. Members being asked to identify Committee members by photos taken when they were a lot younger! Needless to say it was very difficult. The Raffle was then drawn and five lucky people won prizes, and the Competition was won by Jacquie Leigh for her entry of three scones! Well done to all who took part.
We ended with the National Anthem and Jenny thanked all for coming!
