Our President introduced our speaker, Andy Bennett who gave us a fascinating talk on Moulton Glass. He had worked for Customs and Excise for 39 years and then took some evening classes in Stained Glass and fell in love with it! He converted an outbuilding into a modern workshop and Moulton Glass started from there. Glass comes from the Roman times. He described different types of glass and had examples to show us. He showed us slides of the stained/lead glass in Churches and Cathedrals and of local properties including Little Moreton Hall and Peckforton Castle where he had worked on the windows.
The vote of thanks was given by Denise Fisher.
The Competition for a glass ornament was won by Diane Joslyn.
Members enjoyed tea and cake followed by short quiz “name that song” following which the raffle was drawn.
Our next meeting will be on Friday evening April 4th at 7.15pm at Broomhall & Sound Chapel when the talk will be Airplane Wing Walking and the competition is a holiday postcard.
