Audlem Party on the Park 2022 concert

The 21st 'Audlem Party on the Park' concert took place on the playing field in Audlem on Saturday 2nd July 2022.

Comperes Dave Johnson and Maxine Mallen introduced each band with witty humour. They called out birthdays and kept the crowd entertained during the intervals with a number of dancefloor-friendly hits from ABBA, Queen and others.

Eight piece band 'The Godfathers of Soul' ( were the first band on stage and got the crowd in the mood playing a string of Motown and soul classic hit records.

The main act was 'The ABBA Reunion Tribute Show' (. 'Björn' & 'Benny', 'Agnetha' & 'Frida' along with backing singers and additional musicians gave ABBA fans, old and new, the opportunity to get together and re-live the addictive disco tunes of the '70s and '80s!

The concert reached a crescendo with ABBA Reunion singing "Waterloo" which ABBA famously performed at the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton in 1974 to win the competition and go on to become one of the best-selling acts in pop music history.

Themed clothing worn by audience members included psychedelic flowery skirts, shirts and headbands and the occasional fright wig! There was also a plethora of Union Jack hats and flags in this Queen's Platinum Jubilee year.

The event took place in dry and warm weather and was enjoyed by 1,800 people, who brought their picnics and danced into the night.

The main sponsor was EPG Security Systems and the other sponsor was Baker Wynne & Wilson.

Thanks are also given to the programme advertisers and the companies and individuals without whom the event would not have taken place: Williams of Audlem (ticket office), The Lord Combermere (meeting venue and artists' refreshments), Audlem Tennis Club (electricity), Audlem Cricket Club (storage), Robert Poole (storage), Sarah Barnett (market research), PET Hire (equipment & fencing for all our events), Audlem Parish Council (Turnpike Field for event parking), Richard Furber (logistics), Cheshire East Council, www.audlemonline.org , Turnpike Field Working Group, Audlem Printers.
