Across school there has been a hive of activity as classes have explored the many areas of the arts and produced some wonderful work to be proud of.

An extravaganza of dance, drama, music, design and technology and visual arts has been happening right across school.

Amethyst class have been developing their observation skills drawing houses and homes. Sapphire class have been creating detailed self-portraits.

Pearl class have started a project on 'Wheels' focusing upon their journey to school. They have created painting in the style of Jackson Pollock and have been busy creating a chassis and axles for a moving wheeled vehicle.

Amber class have studied Gakonga Art and the sculptures of Giacometti. They also designed and made a diorama rainforest.

Ruby class have designed and made their own musical instruments and have used pastels to reveal animals camouflaged in a rainforest setting in the style of Henri Rousseau.

Whilst in Year 6, the children have been finalising their wonderful Aztec designs, with the help of Christine Johnson, ready for display this weekend – see second photo.

Mrs Mckee has been teaching music in various classes and our talented Singing Playgrounds Leaders presented some of their songs and playground games in assembly on Monday, encouraging our younger children to sing and play their way through break times!

Miss Dhana has been sharing her Dance expertise with classes across school, with children producing some imaginative and energetic dance routines. The children have also been busy preparing art work on the theme of Families which will be displayed both in school as part of the Skoolsfest art exhibition at Nantwich Museum next half term.

All of the hard work our EYFS children (and their talented helpers!) have put into their wonderful outdoor art boards has really paid off. Our talented parent volunteers have been busy putting the finishing touches to the boards this week and they look super!

Every child in school has also been involved in creating two wonderful pieces of artwork about our Bible quotation 'Let Your Light Shine' and about our school and our community. They have enjoyed special workshops with Chris Gilbert (the Art and Soul Man) who has taught them new techniques and encouraged them to try new ideas in their artwork – the results are fabulous!

We welcomed Year 1 children's relatives to share lunch with us on Tuesday and the children thoroughly enjoyed showing their visitors their lunchtime routines! Thank you to all of the relatives who joined us and to Mrs Hayward and her team who provided both a delicious meal and help in organising this special lunch.

Active Audlem on Tuesday morning was another popular event for parents, children and staff. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this; it is such a refreshing start to our day!

Three teams represented our school in the Years 5/6 Orienteering Competition at Reaseheath yesterday. The children and adults had a fabulous time in the sunshine following maps and searching for each location. All returned to school rosy cheeked and happy! Kory said it was 'great fun' and Lily Serif and Katie Francis reported that they were really glad they took part – we are too! Thank you to the parents and Reaseheath College who supported with transporting the teams to and from this event.

FASA – WOW What an Achievement!

Tuesday's AGM was a chance to stop and reflect on just how much FASA's fundraising events have achieved this year. FASA Chair, Deborah Varley, presented a report outlining all of the wonderful resources and projects the money raised has funded including supporting the cost of trips and visitors to help to bring learning to life, sports kits and Golden Time resources.

With the wonderful support of our families and wider community, FASA have managed to smash their original fundraising target for this year and have raised an amazing £5026! As a result they have been able to purchase a set of iPads and an iPad trolley for the children in school, which we will be introducing to classes next half term.

To celebrate this fabulous achievement, FASA are holding a celebration 'Thank You' event for all families after our Parent Forum meeting on Tuesday 23rd June (from 3pm – 4pm). There will be tea, coffee and cake provided for parents and children. Please do join us.

The AGM meeting was testament to the energy and enthusiasm the FASA team give to school and the generosity of parents and the local community. Thank you to everyone who has supported this incredible work this year.

FASA's Film Night will be on Tuesday 2nd June (our first week back after half term) from 5pm-7pm. There will be two films shown: Night at the Museum 3 (PG) and Penguins of Madagascar (U). Hot dogs, drinks and refreshments will be on sale.

Our Summer Fair will soon be with us when we return to school. A reminder that it will be held on Thursday 2nd July. Please look out for more details in future newsletters.

ABC Childcare

There are spaces available for half term holiday club on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at ABC. Don't forget, ABC offer half price Fridays and childcare costs £2.25 per hour from 1.00p.m. Please contact ABC at abcchildcareservices@btinternet.com for more details.

Attendance

As you are aware, we are proud of the good attendance rates at school and I thank all parents and carers for their support in ensuring this is maintained. With this in mind, I would like to draw your attention to a change the Government is due to introduce with regards to attendance in schools.

From the beginning of the next academic year, the Government is reducing the persistent absence threshold from 15% to 10%. This refers to the number of absences a child has before they are deemed to be a persistent absentee.

The current persistent absence threshold of 15% means a pupil is absent for 56 sessions (28 days) of school before being classified as persistently absent. This is a great deal of schooling to miss and, in the government's opinion; this threshold is set too high.

Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers

Thank you for all of the vouchers parents, carers and other village residents have sent into school recently. These vouchers help to provide resources for the children and we really appreciate you passing them on to school.

Carnival time is near!

Everyone's fingers are crossed for good weather over the weekend for the Audlem Festival and Carnival.
We wish Carnival Queen (Annie Goodwin) and her Princesses (Jessica Smith and Emily Turner) lots of luck on Monday as they play their special part in the Carnival.

Diamond class' lovely Aztec artwork is to be displayed during the festival weekend. They have really enjoyed the sessions they have had with Christine Johnson and have produced work to be proud of. Their work will be on display at the Methodist Church throughout the weekend – please look out for it.

Finally

As we reach the end of another half term I would like to thank all parents and carers for your continued support of school and wish you all a restful and safe break. We look forward to welcoming all of the children back to school on Monday 1st June.
