This Saturday, 10th April, sees the monthly ARS (Audlem Ramblers) walk. Tony Crowther is organising the April expedition which is a linear walk between Macclesfield Forest and Upper Hulme

The Start point is in Macclesfield Forest (loos available) with the End point at Ye Olde Rock Inne, Upper Hulme. The length is 16 kms/10 miles max with an ascent of approximately 2100 feet.

From the Macclesfield Forest start, it's up and over Shutlingsloe (506m) to Wildboarclough (with an optional low level detour). From there, it's up to Tagsclough Hill (450m), crossing the main A54 Congleton to Buxton road before dropping very steeply to the Youth Hostel at Gradbach.

From this low point we cross the river Dane and climb up via Gradbach Wood, Roach End (with a Lud's Cave optional detour) and Bearstone Rock to peak at The Roaches (505m).

Walking along the ridge towards Hen Cloud(410m) we will have the choice of a road or paths to arrive at Ye Olde Rock Inne in Upper Hulme (Open all afternoon on Saturdays)

I rate this walk as three to four boots. Because we will have to organise a car at the end (where the non-drivers can wait in the pub!), Tony is suggesting an 8.00am start from Audlem car park.
