ARS Walk: Cnicht
On Saturday morning Karen Mason led a group of Hard ARS walkers for a day out to Snowdonia and more specifically Cnicht.
In glorious sunny weather we parked up in the village of Croesor and after a brief discussion about what we had eaten for breakfast and the efficacy of Boots No7 Pure Retinol Day Cream with SPF 50, we were soon skipping up the lower slopes of Cnicht.
Following an impromptu stop for Rachel to lie down and smell the heather we decided to have our second breakfast overlooking the shimmering azure sea of Tremadoc Bay. Suitably refreshed we quickly scampered over the remainder of the climb and had a sumptuous luncheon at the top while taking in a panoramic view of Snowdonia with Martin helpfully pointing out the peaks of Snowdon itself, Moel Siabod, Cader Idris and Yr Wyddfa.
After lunch we sashayed across the bogs, pools, rocks and waterfalls of Cwm Corsiog and Clogwyn Brith before taking a leisurely afternoon tea at a slate quarry and returning to the car via the slopes of Moelwyn Mawr.
On the way home we stopped at a roadside caf for ice creams and teas. Once back in the car and with the doors locked, Jan gave a recital of almost all of the first lines, of almost all of the famous arias, in the style of Mrs Johnstone from Blood Brothers.
Having made sure we arrived back in Audlem in good time for dinner, Karen suggested that our next walk should be in Eryri, wherever that is.
If you like eating outdoors and have good skin perhaps ARS is just what you ve been looking for.
