ARS, the Audlem Ramblers Society, is to tackle a section of Offa's Dyke over the Clwydian hills next Saturday.

The walk I suggest starts just below Moel Famau and ends at the village of Bodfari, a distance of about 14.7k (9.5 miles).

Moel Famau stands at 554 metres and on its summit stands the remains of the Jubilee tower built in 1760 to commemorate the coronation of George III. On a good day there are tremendous views of Snowdonia, and the country park around is an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Our path also takes us over some other smaller hills (Moel Dywyll, Moel llys-y-coed, Moel Arthur and Penycloddiau) and past several iron age hill forts.

The walk involves a total ascent of 533 metres, but the good news is the descent is 863 metres. The walk is linear so I will try and arrange for a car to leave earlier and be left at Bodfari but it would be helpful if members could let me know if they are planning to walk to gauge numbers.

According to Google there is a real ale pub in the village if we have to wait a bit. An 8.30am start would seem suitable at Audlem car park
