Tomorrow's ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) expedition to Snowdonia is led by Will Williams. He describes the A & B walk:

The A and B walks are up Mynedd Mawr (698m) and starting and finishing in Rhyd Ddu.

Indeed, we have two potential B walks. One involving the CAMRA Gwynedd & Anglesey Pub of the Year 2014, and a bus journey back to the cars, and one getting back to Rhyd Ddu (don't worry there's an excellent pub and also a cafe there too so none need miss out!).

For the A and B walks, you will need OL17. Both start from Rhyd Ddu train station car park (572527). There are toilets there. We go from there past the cafe, pub (Cwellyn Arms) and bus stop, up the lane a little before turning North up the forest road. The track goes NNW through the forest and gets thinner, with nice views of Snowdon and Llyn Cwellyn below.

We go steadily to the summit of Mynedd Mawr, where there is some shelter if the wind is consistent. We go down the NW ridge past the mine entrance (not marked on the map but worth a look) and at some point here the A & B walks split.

The B walks go down to the footpath through Trosygol woods. The A walkers continue to Moel Smytho (343) above the woods.

All the options end up in Ryh Ddu where there is a Pub near to the car park. It's another great one.

I'm sure you feel spoilt for choice. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday at 8.00am on Audlem car park. Allow 2 hours to get to Rhyd Ddu with optional breakfast baps at the Rhug organic farm on the way.
