Next Saturday's ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) walk is in Dovedale and is organised by Chris Roche. This is his description:

We start from the Car Park at the old Railway station at Thorpe on the Tissington Trail. Free but not very large – (if it is full on Saturday there is another pay park a couple of hundred yards up the road).

W 001°45.2421' N 53°03.0141' (For those with car Sat Nav). SK 1658 5036 (for those with OS map). It is about 2.5 miles NNW of Ashbourne.

An easy 9.5 mile walk mainly on consolidated limestone paths at the side of the river and along the Tissington Trail. A few fields to cross but not very muddy, and only one short but fairly steep climb out of Dovedale. There are very few stiles.

Loos in Thorpe soon after the walk start, at Milldale and Tissington. There are no pubs but I think there is a coffee shop in Milldale.

As it is Dovedale, it could be fairly busy on Saturdays – there were quite a few people about in the week, but it is an OK walk for dogs as we only go through three fields with sheep. However there will be cyclists on the Tissington Trail so you need to watch your dogs on that stretch.

A pleasant walk, dry underfoot and as the Trail section is mostly on elevated embankment the views from there are good.

I would assess it as a very easy 2 booter. Meet up on Audlem car park at 8.30am on Saturday 8th March.
