AudlemOnline has received this request from the Inland Waterways Association.
Rather than deal with this request ourselves, we are suggesting that anyone who supplied photos to AoL about the canal "whirlpool", or anybody who has any other suitable photos, should contact the Association direct.

Inland Waterways Association – Shrewsbury District & North Wales Branch

In the next issue of our members' magazine, The Shroppie Fly, we are intending to include an article on the collapse & repair of the culvert at Bridge 80. CRT's Area Operations Manager is keeping me up to date with the likely cause and the progress and technical side of the repairs etc.

I am looking for some photos of the site to accompany the article – with a resolution of at least 1mb. Ideally the whirlpool, the hole in the canal bed and the cofferdams before they were removed recently due to the high water flows.

Unfortunately, even though I only live four miles north of bridge 80, due to the current lockdown a visit to the site is not allowed. I am wondering if you have the originals of the photos that have been published in recent Audlem Online news stories? Would you be prepared to let the branch have copies please – AO would of course be acknowledged in the article.

Alternatively, if AO do not have the originals, would you please be so kind as to forward this email to the appropriate person.

Kind Regards,

Graham Russell

Ed – something we have kept meaning to ask – did anybody observe whether the "whirlpool" was going clockwise or anticlockwise, and did it conform to the North/South Hemisphere rule?
