Did you identify the missing Eagle in Celia Bloor's news story on Saturday?

The answer is that the eagle was etched on the window of the old Barclay's Bank in Cheshire Street. That has now been converted to the dispensary for the recently expanded Boots Pharmacy and the window disappeared during the refurbishment.

Back in the 1980s, Audlem boasted two banks, the Barclays branch and over in Shropshire Street, a branch of NatWest, now Kebab Land.

For those that want to bank locally, fortunately it's only a short step down to Audlem Post Office where transactions for a variety of banks can still be conducted in the village.
