This week's Nantwich Chronicle reports on yet another winner from Audlem.

Retired Primary School teacher, Catherine Hope, wowed the judges at the Reaseheath College beading display competition with the stunning autumn colours and designs of her jewellery. Catherine, who had been attending beadcraft sessions at the college, began making jewellery two and a half years ago and has found her creative hobby both rewarding and relaxing as she enjoys making eye-catching gifts for friends and family. She exhibited a feature necklace with embellished fastener, matching earrings and a bracelet with a double spiral staircase design.

This design so impressed the judge, Mark Vardy, that he awarded her first prize and a £20 voucher to be spent in his bead shop, Silvar Design in Woolstanton. Mark commented: "Catherine followed the autumn theme well, from mood board to final piece of work. I especially liked the texture and choice of materials, and the style was modern and wearable."

Catherine said: "I really enjoy the classes at Reaseheath. Because the classes are so small you get individual attention and I've been able to work on different techniques. You also make new friends with the same interests."
