Annie Junior- A review.

By Nikki Pascall

Last night I had the privilege of watching the technical dress rehearsal of Annie Junior and "Oh my goodness", "Oh my goodness" it was a joy to watch from start to finish!
The story is set in 1933 New York and follows the story of some loveable orphans played by a group of talented youngsters who spoke, sang the catchy songs and danced beautifully throughout, lighting up the stage.

They are ruled over by the formidable 'Miss Hannigan' (owner of the orphanage) played by the extremely talented and hilarious Gracie Reece-Gresty. Her characterisation of this eccentric taskmaster was excellent and captivating to watch.

Watch out to for the very talented Amelie Lane whose portrayal of the unfortunate star of the show was unforgettable -- she has a beautiful voice and her tender portrayal of the character and her interaction with the other orphans was very moving to watch ( tear jerking in fact).

Other highlights for me were Olivia Reece Gresty's portrayal of Rooster (Miss Hannigan's scheming brother) as this was also fist rate and very amusing to watch and the loveable 'Sandy the dog' played by Isaac Lane. These characters were ably supported by many other very talented youngsters (too many to name individually).

The fabulous dancing which was brilliantly choreographed throughout by Gracie Reece-Gresty was very well thought out, complemented the scenes beautifully and was very slick. The use of projected backdrops helps to set the scene in an eye catching manner also.

This show which lasts only one hour and twenty minutes is suitable for the whole family -- directed and produced by the extremely talented Nancy May Goodwin it is a gem from start to finish.

You can bet your bottom dollar that you would be a fool to miss it as tickets have almost sold out. Get yours quick!!
