We have an opening date for the new Public Hall Annexe.

The Red Letter day will be Saturday November 18th, and at 2pm the High Sheriff of Cheshire, Sarah Callander Beckett, will ceremonially cut the tape.

Now this does not mean that all the facilities in the Annexe will be fully working by that date. But the APHAx Committee is doing its damnedest to make sure that as much as possible will be functional and on view by then.

We have funding from the Big Lottery Fund to cover the costs of a modest shindig to celebrate the opening of the Annexe.

The same team that brought you two successful dinner/dances, a chilli night and a barn dance to raise funds for the project, are busy planning the Grand Opening event. Although most of the details won't be released until later, we can reveal that there will be a glass of Prosecco and a buffet, all free, for all those Audlem, Hankelow and Buerton residents who care to attend the event. It will also be an opportunity for everybody to have a good look round the new building, and no doubt tell us how we should have done it.

We thought it would be interesting to show the original picture that Sheila Webster painted as an artist's impression before the first sod was turned, and the now nearly completed Annexe. The picture is, we think, amazingly like the reality, and it has been an inspiration for us during the years that the project has taken.
