There was prolonged applause as Andrew Smith, to his complete surprise, was declared Audlem and District Citizen of the Year 2015 at last night's ADAS annual general meeting in Audlem Public Hall.

The citation showed just how much Andrew contributes to village life, not only having run Audlem Post Office for many years, but his work with ASET, as a former parish councillor and in helping so many organisations and events, including those run by ADAS, in selling advance tickets.

The award was presented to Andrew by Bryony Nixon, top left photo.

The Property of the Year award went to John and Margaret Capper of Yew Tree Cottage in Green Lane, with John collecting the award from David Latchford (top right), and the Commercial Property award to The Flower Divas in Shropshire Street with Sam Burdon stepping up for the award.

A bouquet of flowers was presented to Ann Wollaston for over twenty years service on the ADAS committee from which she has just retired.

There will be a full report tomorrow on ADAS's activities throughout the past year as well as an update on Audlem in Bloom and the Audlem Medical & Nursing Trust.
