The Nantwich area even made the regional TV news last night with rainfall recorded in the last few days at over 60mm (around 2.5in), or about what should normally fall in the whole of September, and amongst the highest rainfall levels in the country.

Update: A local resident from just outside Audlem has measured 106.2mm from Sunday at 5.00pm to lunchtime Thursday and says he has never recorded anywhere near as much in 24 hours as at the start of that period.

The Trent and Mersey Canal at Croxton Lane, Middlewich has been the major flooding danger in Cheshire East. The fire brigade and the Environment Agency are there but the risk of collapse is now receding but housing has been under threat.

Moss Lane /Flowers Lane /Bradfield Green in Crewe has seen council staff working there throughout yesterday. Sandbags have been deployed and the council is currently pumping away 25,000 litres of water an hour.
