An update on the Scout & Guide Hall

Audlem Online has received the following progress report from the team responsible for the re-furbishment of the Audlem Scout & Guide Hall:-

"The work of re-furbishing the hall has gone very well since it began on July 24th. It re-opened for use – on schedule – on September 15th. When it closed, the hall was stripped of fixtures and fittings and the floor was taken up – all this work was done by the Hall Committee and a group of volunteers."

"The professionals moved in and since then the toilets have been replaced and improved and a new disabled 'loo' has been created. The building has been re-wired and new lights fitted in the main hall. These are now mounted into a suspended ceiling which makes them much more effective and pleasant for use."

"The hall has been painted and decorated and a wooden floor has been laid over a new concrete base. Double glazing – in keeping with the style of the building -is the finishing touch for now. Further upgrading – which is awaiting confirmation of funding – is in the pipeline. This work, when it commences, will not significantly affect the continuing use of the building."
