Nantwich Supper Club- An Evening with a Difference
We don't count ourselves as foodies, but we do like a nibble as part of a rounded social event. We were encouraged to try the Supper Club concept by the owners of the Nantwich Bookshop who were former residents of Audlem.
So, last Friday evening we stepped out of our comfort zone and arrived at the host's residence where the event was to take place. We joined a group of about 19 others, some Supper Club virgins, others returning guests.
Once the full guest list had assembled, the even kicked off with the host chef's Amuse- Bouche, with guests having to guess the mystery ingredients,in this case being a new slant on Brussel Sprouts!
Starters soon followed with four selections, ranging in soups from Vietnam and Italy, to homemade Pate, and a Feta coated in sesame seeds and spinach, and orange salad.
The main course selection ran to fifteen, yes, fifteen dishes, again with a world wide selection of fish, meats vegetables and salads.
If that wasn't enough it was rounded up by a selection of no less than six puddings with the highlights for us being a warm pear and blue cheese combination and an apple and amaretti tart.
The concept of the event is more about trying new dishes, new flavours,in a relaxed environment where guests and the host all muck in together. You bring your own alcoholic refreshments. We write this to help spread the word on this way of dining out in a home atmosphere.
We will be looking to return again hoping others in the Audlem area might like to consider attending. You get to try new foods and make new friends in the process.
Last Friday's menu is shown. Please get in touch with the Supper Club if you need further information. You can also join the mailing list to receive n-s-c news and information.
