Local Resident Roland Turner sent this into chatbox, but we feel that it deserves a wider audience
"I just wanted to use AOL to thank ASET for organising the Picnic in the Park on Monday.
"It was surprising how many people braved what was forecast to be a horrible afternoon, as far as the weather went. I feel that we may have provided the entertainment in struggling to erect a new out of the box, gazebo but thanks to Morris for lending a hand.
"Whilst going through the thanks we should also thank our shopkeepers for participating in the spot the crown competition. We, and particularly our granddaughter, had great fun over the weekend participating in the hunt. A great idea and I hope the business also benefited from it too. (We ended up buying a very attractive and useful Coronation trivet from Brambles and our granddaughter who was recovering from a stomach bug smelt the chops at the Village Chippie and made a miraculous recovery for a chippy lunch!
"At a time when there are those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, some that have to ask what happened and unfortunately a few that criticise what's been done it's an ASET to Audlem that we have the people and businesses that we have.
"Long live the spirit of Audlem."
ASET would like to thank the people who braved the weather and joined us on the field for our Coronation picnic. Fortunately the clouds cleared a little which gave us three hours of dry weather.
We would also like to thank Jody Jennings and his team from the Audlem Music and Arts Festival committee for providing some stirring background music and Chris May of Audlem Parish Council for his assistance in dealing with Cheshire East Council.
