Amazing Fancy Dress success

The Charity Fancy Dress Night turned out to be absolutely brilliant on Saturday.

The amount raised so far is £2350 and we still have the bottle of five pence pieces competition to complete by the end of August. I think the final total could possibly reach £3000 by that date.

There were some amazing costumes on the night, some daring ones, some silly ones (brilliant) and some extremely well planned ones.

Many people agreed that it would be a great idea to hold this event each year, so already Bob and Jess Yarwood and myself have agreed to get our heads together and start planning ahead.

It was a massive learning curve on Saturday and we did have one or two problems. The raffle was difficult as it was held inside the pub and some people outside didn't realise the draw was taking place. Our sincerest apologies for this mistake – really sorry everyone.

Next year, we plan to have printed tickets which will go on sale maybe a month or so prior to the event with people's contact details on the ticket stub.

We will you know at the end of August the final total of money raised.

A massive thanks to all the businesses and friends that contribute prizes for the auction and raffle.

I'm off to work now and am trying to think of what to say to my bosses about my new but temporary haircut. Please wish me luck on this as it is hideous.
